Boat Interiors
Your interior should work as hard as the rest of the boat. We recover and rebuild salon and cockpit cushions, berths, helm seats, and interior panels with marine foams and fabrics that stand up to salt, UV, and wet gear. The goal is simple: seats that still hold shape after a season, surfaces that wipe clean, and a cabin that looks finished instead of tired. Fit, foam, and fabric chosen for this boat—not a living-room leftover.
Sails
A sail has one job: hold shape when you ask it to and last long enough to be worth the money. We design and build mains, headsails, and downwind sails around how you actually sail—club racing, coastal hops, or longer passages—then cut and finish them so corners, reefs, and UV covers don’t become the weak point. New inventory, recuts, and honest repairs. If a sail can be saved, we’ll tell you. If it can’t, we’ll build one that fits.
Insulated Covers
An insulated cover is more than a tarp with better stitching. It keeps heat in during cold snaps, knocks down condensation, and takes the edge off Georgia sun so cushions, electronics, and joinery don’t cook in the slip. We build them to your boat—not a generic envelope—so they fit tight at the sheer, shed water, and still come off without a wrestling match. Better climate control on board, less mildew, and a boat that’s easier to live with between weekends.

About Bosun & Hawk
Bosun & Hawk Sail Company is an independent loft for sails, canvas, and interior work. The gear that has to look right in the slip and hold together when the weather does not cooperate.
The name is not decoration. A bosun is trusted with canvas, rigging, and the systems that keep a boat usable. A hawk is what you want in a lookout: sharp, patient, and unwilling to miss a weak seam. That is how we treat every job that comes through the door.
Who we are
We design, cut, sew, and finish work for sailors and boat owners who want something that fits this boat, not a generic pattern. Some of our customers race. Some cruise. Some live aboard. Some just want a cockpit that is comfortable and a mainsail that still holds shape after a hard season. We treat all of them the same: measure carefully, build cleanly, and stand behind the work.
How we work
A sail is a flying structure. A dodger is a piece of architecture that has to shed water and stay out of the way of winches. A salon cushion has to survive salt, sun, and people sitting on it in wet shorts. Different jobs, same standard.
We start with conversation and measurements. We talk about how you actually use the boat—daysails, passages, instruction, weekends at the dock—then we choose cloth, foam, thread, hardware, and construction to match that use. On the loft floor we combine modern patterning with traditional sewing: clean layouts, strong seams, thoughtful reinforcement, and finishing that will still look right after heat, UV, and reefing.
What we believe
- Fit first. A beautiful piece that binds, bags, or leaks is a failure.
- Durability is a kindness. Cheap cloth and weak corners cost more in the long run.
- Repair is part of the craft. We would rather save a good sail, enclosure, or cushion than sell you a replacement you do not need.
- The whole boat matters. Sails, canvas, and interior work should look like they belong together.
- You should be able to talk to the people who built it.

What we do
Sails
New mains, headsails, staysails, and downwind sails. Recuts, reef points, UV covers, and hardware upgrades. Inspection, repair, and recutting.
Canvas Fabrication & Repair
Dodgers, biminis, enclosures, cockpit covers, sail covers, lazy systems, winch and pedestal covers, and custom pieces that have to work with your rig and deck layout. Zippers, windows, bindings, and structural repairs on existing canvas.
Upholstery & Interiors
Cockpit and salon cushions, berth mattresses and covers, settees, helm seats, and custom interior fabric or vinyl work. Recovering worn pieces, new foam where it has collapsed, and finishes chosen for marine use—not living-room fabric that will not last.
